Update: After reading several comments on other gadget blogs regarding this release of Safari for Windows, it is believes that it is not that cool actually. Several bugs found and it does not support manual proxy setting. Well, this is a Public Beta, thats true. We’ll see next. However, I still believe that the best browser for Window users for the time being is Firefox. So lets stick with it first, shall we? Using it as a primary browser may not be a good idea, but take it positively. For website developers, you can use this opportunity to test you website on Safari browser.
Update 2 For those who are having font problems with their Safari, you can get some links to the solutions from Hong Kiat’s post.
I just finished watching Apple’s World Wide Developer Conference keynote on the internet just now. It is a streaming video but it runs very smoothly despite of our slow internet connection. This is the second time I watch a keynote by Steve Job after the one when he introduced iPhone last year. Basically Steve Jobs talks about the upcoming OS, the Leopard which is scheduled to be shipped in September. Lots of new and cool features by those Apple people, as usual. I might be getting myself a Macbook when Leopard is released, if I have the money lah of course. Start saving ok!

By the way, as a Window user, well the only good news for the time being is that Apple has released their ultimate powerful and fast browser, Safari, for Windows platform; XP and Vista as well. This is a huge Wow for me I must say. However, this is a Public Beta release and not a full version, yet. But heck, who cares ( I dont ). Experience the power of Safari today by downloading this Public Beta now. Tidy up your desktop now, because you are going to have one more icon to be placed next to your Firefox (or IE) icon.

I’ve tested it and its cool, ok. I just realised that my previous post excerpts does not work on Safari. But I fixed it already. However, I need to revalidate my xhtml, if I want to.
For those who haven’t know, Safari is a web browser for people who runs Apple OS on their computer. Same with Firefox, Safari also comes with tabbed browsing for a better browsing experience. It has an elegant user interface, the one we love on our iTunes for years. And the resizeable text field; any text field on any website. Just drag the corner for a bigger field.
Other basic features includes built-in RSS , block annoying pop up from porn sites, AutoFill forms for some lazy dude like me, easy bookmarking for you favourite websites and others. You can read more on their website, if you care.
Safari is the world’s best browser. Thats what they say. Well, i think they get it right. Safari is a very great browser as it stands out among all other web browsers in current market as well as our beloved Mozilla Firefox ( and IE of course). In case you think that Opera/Firefox is the fastest, you might want to think twice this time around. Safari beats them all.
Have a look on these charts. Original version taken from Apple website, but I’ve compiled it for an easier view.

HTML Performance; thats our page load when we browse into any website. This is the important things to consider when your are choosing a web browser. As we can see, Safari loads page as twice as fast compared to IE. What say you, IE user?
you may want to switch today.
Javascript Performance; the time needed to load Javascript on certain web pages. Well, maybe some users disabled Javascript on their browser. But on default, it is turned on. So you might want to consider this as well. Two times faster than IE, everyone?
And the last one is application launch. That is the amount of time needed from the moment you click on the icon, until it shows up on your computer screen. I am very strict about this. I hate applications with very long waiting time; such as Photoshop ( thats why I use Fireworks instead
) And here, Safari loads faster than any of its competitor. Sounds promising huh. But it depends on your computer speed of course.
Wait no more.
Give it a shot and you will like it. ![]()

But does it render the pages correctly? Some pages are horrible using safari 2. Previous Joomla! component releases by my boss (whom i work part time with) failed miserably with Safari - try submitting a comment at my site using safari.
