@redblaque: basically I believe HDD is better than flash memory. more reliable, maybe. flash memory is expensive and for now, we dont have big capacities for flash memory, compare to HDD.
iPod shuffle, nano and touch are using flash memory, and as you can see, they are thin.

Touch will be available on 29th september. maybe few days after that ade la kt msia kot hopefully.
