With the success of a social bookmarking site like Digg.com ( and any others, of course), more and more people are getting into building their own Digg-like sites. Furthermore, when Pligg script is released ( and Pligg template as well), everything seems so much easier for non-experts developers out there. We already know the existence of Digg.com.my (currently down), but this time I am listing several sites that are taking the Digg-like approach but with their own niche topics. Read on.

Design

Designfloat.com – I can say this is a very good approach to gather all design related articles into this site. It is not easy to find a good design articles in Digg itself. Now we have Designfloat.com; Digg for designers

Pixelgroovy.com – This site is a user controlled tutorial directory. Various tutorial ranging from Photoshops, PHP, CSS etc can be found here. Just vote (..groove?) your favorite tutorials to promote them.

Pictures/Photos

Digpicz.com and Biggsmash.com (double G wtf?) are examples of two website that use Digg official API to generate their contents from Digg.com. Since Digg haven’t created the own pictures section – which is highly demanded by their users – these are quite helping.

Picli.com – a collection of great pictures/photos that can be voted by visitors. The most popular will continuously be promoted in the showcase gallery.

Photographyvoter.com – this is not a place where you can directly view/find great photos, but its a good collection of resources for photographers out there.Tutorial etc.

But well, nothing can beat Flickr, isn’t it?

Videos

Just like any other video sharing sites – Youtube, Vimeo etc – these sites also allow user to submit videos; but as addition to that, other users can vote their favorite video to make it stand out than others.

Videobomb.com – Not a great design though – and their Star It button is.. not cool.

Videosift.com – This looks a bit promising to me, but I cant seem to play any single video. I hope it just me.

Mootion.com – What I like about m00tion is that the videos can be played directly on the frontpage without having to load another page.

Music

iJigg.com – a very cool one, I can say. Plus, it has a very decent looking player that can be embed into your sites. Found any cool songs? Jigg it. omg it sounds weird. ..yet another double G word.

Bandbuzz.com – Maybe a bit similar to iJigg, but their music player are not that stylish.

Miscellaneous

Worlddevils.com – As strange as its name, this site allow you to vote for the most bad people on earth. Mostly country leaders etc.Very strange. Guess who is the top voted ‘devil’? You can ‘confirm’ to vote, or ’save’ to save them. lol

Snoopr.net – “Social Dealfinding”, where you can find stuff to buy online. The links will bring you into various online dealing sites such as Bestbuy, Amazon and others.

AutoSpies.com – article mostly about cars. Users can vote and post articles. Well, it seems like only few people are using it.

Well, actually there are lots of other related sites out there. I just can’t list them all. Shout out in the comment section if you have any recommendation.

Just want to make things clear that I have no idea if any of listed sites are actually exist before the Digg is in, or before the Pligg script is released. No offences.
