Everybody knows about the chaos of iPhone unlocking and jailbreaking have been around the internet - allowing people to use other sim card from anywhere in the world - and allowing them to install third-party applications on their iPhone. When Apple announced iPod touch, everyone thought that it can also be jailbroken with the same method; but they were wrong.
After more than a months waiting, finally people are coming out with methods to jailbreak the iPod touch. What the hell is jailbreak and why would I do it?
Well, basically the word ‘jailbreak’ is created by this community of iPhone hackers/unlockers. A jailbroken iPhone/iPod touch will allow us to install third-party applications on the devices - one important thing that Apple restricted. With third-party applications, you can add more utility tools, games and many more. A lot of apps have been written by many developers out there for iPhone - now we can benefit them on iPod touch as well.
Although Apple already announced the WebApp directory, but who the hell want web apps anyway? we want a full apps with icons on the home screen without having to open Safari every time we want to use the apps.
So how to jailbreak my iPod touch.
So far, I have been reading several different method just to do that. The method for Mac users came first. I was worried if no one will come out with the PC version; but luckily there is.
The first instruction ever - 74 steps all together! makes me giggle. Especially when you have to deal with SSH, terminal and HEX editing. wow! Soo not for a noob. But then theres a simpler version ; less steps but still quite scary. lol.
Fortunately, there is a new GUI versions of jailbreak, both for Mac and PC users. Yay! The Mac version is called iJailBreak and the PC version is called TouchFree. Now thats make my life much easier.
My iPod touch?
Not jailbroken yet. Yeah, I know, sad. Well, the method requires me to visit a website using Safari on my iPod touch to trigger the jailbreak process. It is called the TIFF exploit method. This method is the main initiator to all jailbreak methods out there. Without it, the whole jailbreaking thing will never gonna happen. Thanks to the founders! ( this method is also used previously to hack the PSP firmware. old method)
So, in order for me to go the website on my Safari, I need a wi-fi connection. I dont have it around here, so I need to wait until the holiday is over to use my campus wi-fi connection.
Who knows if there will be another easier and reliable methods in the next few days. Its worth waiting btw.

yeah i’ve read about this latest and easiest jailbreak method. Its really simple I was so surprised to see it.
My ipod is having some wifi problem that I cannot jailbreak it yet.
