I went out on last Saturday and I bought 2 international skateboard magazines- Trasher and Transworld Skateboarding. It’s like ages since I bought one. And it’s been ages since I last skate too. Oh I miss the old days, man.

It was few years back, when I was 14 years old, I was very much addicted to skateboarding. Living in hostel in MRSM doesn’t stop me though. Me and some seniors, we even created our own mini skatepark, complete with mini ramp and a rail, and conquer the basketball court every evening. Fakie lipslide anyone? Oh the old days huh.

Anyway, buying a skate magazine is another way for me to gain inspiration for design works. You can flip through lots of different style of designs, especially the advertisements. Competition between brands, lots of fresh ideas can be seen. It is believed that grunge style in web design is originated from these kind of magazines (I forgot where I read this -_-). And if you liked photography, this type of magazine is a good inspiration too. If you were too broke to buy a new edition, which normally cost RM40-RM50, you can try looking for previous editions for a much cheaper price. I bought February 2008 for only RM8 each :)

I was attracted to this, on a Toy Machine advertisement:

oppose.jpg

“Two forces opposing one another equals nothing”. We learnt that in Physics, obviously. But now, maybe we can implement it in our life as well – in a society and in organisations. Can you relate that in any event around you?

And how about this tip on how not to go broke – originally written for young beginners in skateboarding.

Don’t blame me if you get caught. :)
