I’ve been using Mac OSX on my new Macbook for one month now. So, what does it feels?

Basically, the transition from Windows to Mac is not really as tough as I thought. Nothing really complicated for medium user like me. When I first got my Macbook, the first thing I did - browsing through the system files and folders - learning where to locate certain files, folders and setting panels. Familiarize myself with new keyboard shortcuts and buttons. Now, taking screenshot requires me to use 3 or 4 keys combination. wow. but I love the flexibility.

Stack - easier and faster access to favorite folders
What are the thing I really like? Software installation is much easier, and way much faster in Mac since there is no system registry like those in Windows. It is more like dragging it into to Applications folder. And to uninstall, just move it to trash. Everything is quite fast too - the startup and all.

Expose setting panel
At first I kinda miss the windows+D shortcut, but not after I discovered active corners to ’show desktop’. Now I can just use my mouse. Cool stuff!
Of course there are certain thing that I don’t really like. The main thing is - there is no way you can “cut and paste” the files or folders (you can do that for text though). It is either you copy-paste-delete or just drag it to another window. The latter is not that easy if you have lots of windows opened. Next, there is no backspace key - need to use fn+delete. But I’m getting familiar with this one already.
After all, my decision to purchase a Macbook is not to be regretted. My works is way much faster with TextMate’s snippet feature, Coda’s one-window development, better designing environment in Fireworks and a lot of other great stuff.
Not to mention, the first software to jailbreak iPhone 2.0/iPod touch 2.0 is built for Mac. So, going to update mine later ![]()

If you like this article,
I first use OSX in 2005, for six month (after spm, parttime magazine publishing). In the beginning, it was a bit daunting, but after a while, I love it.
Uh.. I just won an ipod touch last week. jailbreaking is quite straightforward kan?

10 Aug 08 | 8:48 amhas been using Mac for 3 year, I owned a Mac for 2 month. Hik hik. I bought on the same time as AisyahRozi did, but she got her earlier, as mine has to be ordered first. OSX Rocks!
Most of the time, i’m using Coda, as it suits me more than TextMate does. Anyhoe, I got Coda + TextMate + Dreamweaver on my box. Wahlaweh! Also got parallels for IE7 and IE6 (sucks).
Long live MAC.
