If you are reading this from a feed reader, you might want to visit the real site, because the new design is live.

I’ve worked on this theme for months. I keep on delaying it because I’m too busy to finish it off. I almost gave up on the redesign, actually. But, fortunately I did not. I tried to squeeze some time to work on it, bit by bit.

To be honest, I still like the previous design. It was simple, and boxy. “Then, why the redesign?” you asked. Well, like my previous redesign, this is just another self-exploration and self-evaluation towards what I have learned and absorbed via extensive lurking around the web community for the past, say, few months. A lot of inspiration, a lot of resources and a lot of guidance available. So, here is where I tried my best to make use of all those information. Practice makes perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect – although, yeah, I admit, a lot of holes here and there that needs to be improved, and skills that need to be sharpened :)

In case you forgot, here is the screenshot of my previous design (click for full resolution) :

And you can compare it with the new design (this is what you should see on your browser, unless you’re using IE):

Although the basic format is retained in this redesign (one latest post with excerpt and previous posts with thumbnails), I tried to use some new approaches in terms of the presentation. The major one is probably the alignment of the whole structure – which is now left-aligned. Is it a good idea? You tell me. You can also see how the overall structure on the main page is divided into three vertical columns, and that is it. Less noise on the front page, I hope.

Design-wise, compared to the previous one, I make use of some subtle gradients, pixel-popping effects, subtle drop shadows and other minor enhancements here and there, that you will notice once you go through the site.

I will probably make additional changes in the next few days, if necessary, as to improve the overall experience. Do provide me with some feedbacks on the redesign – in the comment section. Thanks!

Note: As of this writing, I only tested the redesign on Firefox 3.5.6 (Mac + Win), Safari 4 (Mac), Chrome (Mac) and IE8 (Win). I don’t think I’m going to test it on IE6, but we’ll see about that.

ur new design not center-aligned on 24″ display. Whole things reside at the left side area.
