Pixelmon has signed an exclusive agreement with Ava Labs to launch mobile games on the Avalanche blockchain.
The move begins with the release of Warden’s Ascent, a role-playing game for mobile devices scheduled for public launch in late 2025. This marks a change in direction for the franchise, which had previously distributed its games across multiple networks, including Ethereum and Immutable.
The decision follows internal changes at Pixelmon and reflects a broader strategy to move toward mobile platforms and expand the franchise’s reach. Pixelmon’s core digital assets will remain on Ethereum, but new game titles will be deployed on Avalanche infrastructure.

What games are coming to Avalanche?
The first title under the new Avalanche agreement is Warden’s Ascent, a turn-based role-playing game in which players collect and evolve a variety of fictional creatures. The game is currently available in early access on the Google Play Store, with a full public release planned for the second half of 2025.
Two additional mobile games are also in development: Nova Thera Chronicles is described as an idle role-playing game, whilst Warriors of Nova Thera is being developed as a real-time battler.
Pixelmon has indicated that its previously released game, Monster Tycoon, which runs on Immutable zkEVM, will not be migrated and will continue to operate as is, but no further expansions are planned.

Why did Pixelmon choose Avalanche?
Pixelmon held discussions with multiple blockchain providers before selecting Avalanche. The company cited several factors in making the decision, including the ability to deploy a dedicated Layer 1 chain, which would allow greater control over performance, fees, and governance.
Avalanche’s existing track record in supporting blockchain games was also a consideration. Examples mentioned by Pixelmon include Off the Grid and MapleStory Universe, which have both used Avalanche infrastructure during development and rollout.
The initial launch of Pixelmon’s new titles will take place on Avalanche’s C-Chain with plans to transition to a custom Avalanche subnet as the player base grows and infrastructure needs increase.
