Singapore-based developer Tatsu Works has announced it is ending development on its blockchain role-playing game, Tatsumeeko: Lumina Fates.
Despite raising $7.5 million from investors, the project faced challenges that led to its discontinuation. The studio has cited sustainability concerns and a shift in direction as reasons for halting the game’s development.
Tatsu Works is now refocusing on smaller-scale projects more closely tied to existing community platforms.

Why is Tatsu Works ending development for Tatsumeeko?
Tatsumeeko: Lumina Fates was envisioned as a fantasy MMORPG-lite featuring exploration, farming, combat, and player-driven stories. It was designed to operate across Discord, iOS, Android, and web browsers, using Ethereum and Solana blockchains for in-game assets like NFTs.
However, Tatsu Works stated the development process became unsustainable. The complexity of the project increased beyond what the team could manage effectively, leading to compromises in quality and scope.
In an official statement, the studio explained that the final direction no longer aligned with their original values, leading them to refocus on simpler, community-oriented projects.

What’s next for Tatsu Works?
Following the decision to halt Lumina Fates, Tatsu Works announced it will focus on a new initiative called Project: Wander.
This upcoming project aims to deliver gameplay integrated directly within digital social environments such as Discord servers. The approach will involve smaller-scale development cycles with frequent updates and ongoing player feedback.
The studio has also assured current holders of NFTs from Tatsumeeko—including Meekolony Passes and Aethereal Parcels—that these assets will continue to have utility in future projects. More information and a roadmap for Project: Wander are expected in the coming months.
