Popular NFT collection Doodles have revealed DreamNet, an AI-based media protocol that will be powered by their soon-to-launch $DOOD token.
DreamNet aims to solve one of the core issues of the AI boom – the consolidation of power and value by the few that own the internet’s data. It’s set to do this with a community-owned, decentralised system where human users can create story worlds, and curate and guide AI contributions to flesh them out.
By harnessing the value of human data, DreamNet is set to allow everyday users to compete with the growing entertainment giants, reward contributions appropriately, and given users control of the worlds they’d like to see.
Reaction to DreamNet has been largely positive. Although the announcement was followed by noted Doodles collector Pranksy selling off a large quantity of his assets, @doodlifts stated it was “fan fiction with upside”, @KyleRiggins said it was “pretty wild and exciting”, and @antis666 simply noted “Nice cook.”

What is DreamNet?
In short, DreamNet is a data protocol that allows users to create story worlds (think Star Wars, Pokémon, or Doodles itself) and contribute characters, places and lore to those worlds using AI.
The protocol maintains a living WorldState – a shared ledger that “tracks, weights, and connects all contributions”. This allows popular story worlds to rise to the surface – similar to how AI agents rise to prominence with AI agent protocol Virtuals.
Creators of story worlds with be rewarded with Universe Tokens – world-specific tokens that are similar to Virtuals agent-specific tokens. Creators of characters and places will be rewarded with character-specific Agent and Place Tokens, in-line with the value of their input on the story world, as determined by the community.
DreamNet will initially be built to leverage the Doodles brand and story world. OG Doodles holders will gain access to the closed beta of DreamNet, helping the Doodles team to develop the protocol and giving their biggest supporters first access to the $DOOD token.

What is $DOOD?
$DOOD is the soon-to-launch token of Doodles, and will be the first Universe Token of the DreamNet protocol.
The token will launch with a 10 billion supply on Solana, before bridging to Base L2 shortly thereafter. 68% of the token supply is allocated to the community, with 30% to be airdropped directly to Doodles holders.
In short, $DOOD will be used to both create and participate in the DreamNet protocol.
Participants will use $DOOD to pay for media creation within DreamNet. Holders can also stake $DOOD with a story world to earn its specific Universe Token. Agent and Place Tokens will require a $DOOD fee upon creation, and will be paired with $DOOD, giving them instant liquidity.
As more $DOOD is locked in liquidity pools as more characters, places and lore are created, the more the supply of $DOOD decreases and – in theory – the more demand for the token.
As of writing, no release date has been shared for the launch of DreamNet or the $DOOD token.
